Why are so many people catching Covid-19 twice?

HOW LIKELY ARE YOU TO CATCH COVID-19 TWICE?

Eventually, pretty likely – immunity fades and coronaviruses evolve.

Most people can expect to catch other coronaviruses, such as those which cause common cold symptoms, many times in their life.

When someone catches Covid-19, their immune system will generate a response that helps them to fight off the virus if they are exposed to it again. But it’s not clear how long this immune response lasts, and it’s likely to vary between people.

If you are unvaccinated, that also increases your risk of catching Covid-19 again. Research shows that people who are unvaccinated are more than twice as likely to catch Covid-19 a second time, compared to people who were fully vaccinated.
